In my previous post, Walking In Rhythm With The Spirit, we studied Galatians 5:25 in the NIV and the KJV. Today, let's explore the Amplified and The Passion Translation.

•If we claim to live by the Holy Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage -- our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit. AMP

•IF the Spirit is the source of our life, we must also allow the Spirit to direct every aspect of our lives. TPT

I want to focus on the word, 'empowered' in this verse. Godly character and moral courage are actually provided for us by the Spirit's empowerment. I don't have to muster up my own! And that is the key to walking in step with the Spirit. If I try to please God through my own effort then I am separating myself from Christ. Check out verse 4...

Anything, I mean anything we do in our own effort or to get favor from God or to feel better about our witness for God will cut you off from the grace of God! And Paul just said when we walk in step with the Spirit leading we are empowered with whatever we need for the moment we are in. It's all about being in harmony with God.

If you've ever tried to sing as part of a trio, you understand about harmony. Think of it like this — different voices, different notes, but all working together. That’s what it’s like when we walk with God. We bring our part, He brings His, and together it makes something beautiful!

The scripture in the AMP also mentioned we are called to walk with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage. How are we empowered with these amazing qualities? Since Jesus lives inside of us and we have been joined together, then we already have all of these qualities. It's all part of your inheritance you acquired when you were born from above.

One day, while driving to my small group and running a little late, I felt hurried. The car in front of me was traveling below the speed limit, which frustrated me. I paused, asked Jesus for patience, and by faith I received it! As I continued driving I felt God's joy all the way to my destination and the journey became easier. Whoohoo!

God says when I have a need that He wants to supply it. He is a good Father, therefore I can trust Him as the Source of my life and let Him into every aspect of my life.
